The Alan Parsons Project formed in London in the mid 70's by Englishman Alan Parsons and Scotsman Eric Woolfson. Alan Parsons was already a respected figure in the music industry for his fabulous studio mixing and production work for Pink Floyd (Dark Side Of The Moon) and the Beatles (Abbey Road).

Led Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin was formed by Jimmy Page in 1968 following the breakup of The Yardbirds. Twelve years later in 1980 John Bonham died accidentally, and that was end of that phase in the career for the remaining three members. All three have enjoyed good solo careers and occasionally two or three have gotten together for brief reunions.

Contrary to popular belief, Led Zeppelin were not a heavy metal band. The music, as described by Jimmy Page, is a mixture light and shade with a strong blues foundation.

Madonna's Playlist

Madonna rocketed to stardom so quickly in 1984 that it obscured most of her musical virtues.

Madonna's first single, "Everybody," became a club and dance hit at the end of 1982; her second single, 1983's "Physical Attraction," was another club hit. In June of 1983, she had her third club hit with the bubbly "Holiday," which was written by Jellybean Benitez. Madonna's self-titled debut album was released in September of 1983; "Holiday" became her first Top 40 hit the following month. "Borderline" became her first Top Ten hit in March of 1984, beginning a remarkable string of 17 consecutive Top Ten hits.

Pink Playlist

Pink was a very unique teenager, and went through phases as a skateboarder, hip-hopper and gymnast. She spent several years as part of the club scene in Philadelphia, singing guest spots and performing for talent shows. At the age of 13 she was asked by a local DJ to sing back-up for his rap group, Schools Of Thought.

A short time later she was discovered by a record executive and joined a female R&B group. When that didn't work out, she signed with LaFace Records and began her solo career. In spring 2000 she released her debut, "Can't Take Me Home". She co-wrote many songs and watched it go multi-platinum by the year's end. Her debut included the Top 10 hit "There You Go", which was certified a gold single.

Electric Light Orchestra Playlist

The big orchestral-rock fusion band, Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) is one of the biggest selling groups of the 70s and 80s. They were formed in 1970 by Roy Wood, Bev Bevan and Jeff Lynne. The three were already members of The Move and it was Wood and Lynne's intention that they would start a new band in the fullness of time. The three members stayed with The Move for two more albums, preparing the groundwork for what would become the first ELO album.

Crosby Stills and Nash Playlist

Crosby, Stills & Nash have remained America’s longest-running experiment in vocal harmony and social relevance. The trio brought harmony to the forefront of popular music with their unique three-part vocal blend. A low-key supergroup, they emphasized singing and songwriting above all, and their example contributed to the evolution of the singer/songwriter movement in the Seventies.
